These new structures where fabricated with A588 Weathering Steel and concrete floor deck. They have replaced circa 100 year old structures that were condemned and barricaded.

Ash Pits Conversion Project
Concrete pits that were used for storing incinerator ash, excess sludge from overloaded trucks, and various other material, were open to the atmosphere, giving out odor and were a big eye sore.
The new structural concrete pits have motorized hatch covers to prevent odors from escaping to the atmosphere and enhance the overall surroundings of the plant.
